The whole idea is a marketer buys a text link to there site from one of these pages. This helps in building one way links to whatever site the marketer is promoting and helps with search engine ranking.
I don’t have a problem with this other than the price it would have cost me to buy a link on the 500words site. If I remember right, Joel was charging a base price of $50 to buy a link. The marketer could purchase an upsell of, let’s say Bolding, for another price. I can’t remember what that price was, but it wasn’t cheap. There are several upsales.
Although I would love to make $50 on every purchase. I’m not charging nearly that amount. You can buy a link on my page for a base price of $7.
The other good thing is you don’t have to use just one word. You can use a 4 word phrase. Phrase links are more targeted than one word links. I have preloaded some words or phrases into the page, but you can click on the Suggest a Word and put in the Word or Phrase you would like. I will manually approve the word/phrase and it will be live. The page I have up now is labeled 250 Viral Products You can use an affiliate link or your own site link for the phrase or word you want, it doesn’t matter. I will not accept adult or hate sites. If a link for whatever reason is refused, I will refund the purchase price.
I’ll tell you what. If you buy a link on my page, I will even create another page that you will be able to have a short paragraph of information about your site. I will put it onto another site.
